ModeX COVID-19 Antibody Enters Phase I Developed on ProBioGen’s Transposase Technology

ProBioGen congratulates its partner ModeX Therapeutics Inc., an OPKO Health company, on the successful advancement of its antibody candidate MDX2301 into Phase I clinical development.

MDX2301 is a tetravalent antibody designed for the prevention of COVID-19 and aims to provide broad protection against diverse SARS-CoV-2 variants, particularly for individuals at increased risk of severe disease.

ProBioGen supported this milestone by developing the production cell line for MDX2301, applying its proven producer cell line CHO.RiGHT® to enable efficient manufacturing of this complex antibody format. The collaboration included advanced cell line development utilising ProBioGen’s pioneering DirectedLuck® Transposase Technology, which enabled the generation of high-titre, stable expression cell lines critical to the success of ModeX’s antibody programme.

This programme is being funded in whole with federal funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), under contract number 75A50123C00056. The contract and federal funding are not an endorsement of the project, product or company.

“We warmly congratulate ModeX on reaching this important milestone,” said Dr. Volker Sandig, Chief Scientific Officer at ProBioGen. “It is rewarding to see complex, multispecific antibodies progressing to the clinic. We value the strong collaboration that enables this achievement and are proud that our DirectedLuck technology has contributed to it.”

ProBioGen wishes the ModeX team continued success as the programme advances.
