Our Recombinant Insulin is used by biopharmaceutical companies worldwide to produce monoclonal antibodies, virus vaccines, gene therapy drugs, and other innovative biologic products approved by regulatory bodies worldwide, including FDA and EMA. It is a key component in serum-free growth media for mammalian cells and is used as a supplement in cell culture media for several cell lines, such as CHO, HEK293, or Sf9. Our Insulin is animal-free and manufactured based on ISO 9001 and under cGMP compliance. 

Being used for more than 100 drugs worldwide our Recombinant Insulin is contributing to improving the lives of people living with arthritis, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and many more medical conditions.

In 2024 we are also preparing for the launch of our new recombinant enzymes for the regenerative medicines and biopharmaceutical markets.

Novo Nordisk Pharmatech is monitored stringently by international regulatory authorities and customers. The company has an outstanding track record of compliance and customer satisfaction because we learn from each audit, monitor compliance requirements, and strive for continuous improvement.

Our responsibility to make a change

On our continued journey to reach zero environmental impact at Novo Nordisk Pharmatech, we want to reduce CO2 emissions from operations and transport by 70% compared to 2019 and have 100% of raw material suppliers committed to using renewable power by 2027. Therefore, we have initiated strong and adequate targets to improve these goals such as creating a commitment to renewable power from our raw material suppliers, optimizing our distribution of products, increasing the focus on reducing the CO2 impact from business flights, and implementing a solvent regeneration unit.

Our environmental and social initiatives will still be at the top of our agenda. We will continue our journey by further reducing the negative impact of our operations and investing in even more renewable energy sources. Additionally, we will have a continued focus on being a sustainable employer by offering an inclusive and diverse working environment. Based on our initiatives, we were included among the top 1% of companies assessed for the EcoVadis Sustainability Report and therefore awarded the Platinum Medal.

In 2024, it is 75 years since our company was founded in Køge. It has undergone many changes since then and in the last few years, the site has experienced significant growth including many new employees. Our employees are distributed across the entire value chain from Research and Development, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control to Sales and Marketing.

We provide products to aid pharmaceutical manufacturing within four product areas: Recombinant Insulin, Enzymes, Resins, and Benzalkonium Chloride. We will continue to strengthen our partnerships with those customers needing animal-free and reliable ingredients supplied securely and consistently. Quality is our top priority, and we are always ensuring high batch-to-batch consistency across our products according to regulations, with cGMP being a key capability.
